SMART Tax Opposition Outspending Advocates By Wide Margin

More than $2 million has been spent in a six-week period by the two sparring campaigns seeking to sway voters’ to their side on SMART’s sales tax extension bid, Measure I.
“It remains and will be the most expensive race for a tax extension or a tax issue in recent memory,” said Petaluma-based political analyst Brian Sobel, “barely eclipsed by some regional head-to-head contests for the state Senate.”
